The Menesetung Bridge Association continues their mission to get municipal and county support as they look to apply for FedDev funding.
A presentation was made to county council this week, where the Association was asking for a financial commitment that would help get approval for a Federal Development grant to put toward concrete repairs for Piers 3, 4, and 5 of the bridge, which spans from Goderich to ACW.
Council requested a staff report on how best to proceed, but was apprehensive to give support as it will be holding its special budget meeting next week.
The main concern from members of council was that there wouldn’t be funding available, and to commit $90,000 per year for the next two budget years seemed steep, in a year where funding is tight and council is hoping to avoid a sizable tax increase.
