Council is looking to give its support of a fundraising project for the track and sports field at GDCI.
During Monday’s council meeting, Nicole Machan and Doug Cruickshank requested support to rejuvenate the track and the sports field.
They’re also hoping to do upgrades to the basketball and beach volleyball courts.
The track is not only used by the Goderich District Collegiat Institute, but is also the setting for a number of community events, such as Huron-Perth Athletics events, invitational track meets, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and the GDCI Colour Run.
They’re hoping to raise $500,000 for the rejuvenation project and are looking for community support.
