The Bruce County Public Library is looking for volunteers to help out with this year’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
This program is making its return to the branches in Chesley, Port Elgin, Walkerton, and Kincardine and helps those with low to modest income access monetary support through filing their taxes.
“As a CVITP volunteer, you would play a crucial role in positively impacting the financial well-being of your neighbours by helping prepare basic tax returns,” says the county.
Volunteers do not need prior experience as training will be provided and can participate as much as their schedule allows. Last year’s program saw volunteers help almost 260 people and families file their income tax returns.
The program is set to start the second week of March and run until the end of April.
For more details, email the Bruce County Public Library at libraryinfo@brucecounty.on.ca. Those interested in volunteering are advised to reach out by Jan. 30 to ensure enough time for training.
