A number of projects are being planned for Meaford as the municipality reviews its 2024 capital budget.
Council received an overview of its capital budget during a meeting on Jan. 30, detailing some of the major projects the municipality will undertake this year.
The municipality will be carrying over a number of projects to this budget, including the $558,450 project of constructing a parking lot at 28 Nelson Street and $1.2 million to rehabilitate Bayshore Road and replace its water service.
Work is also continuing on a $1.6 million bridge replacement project, a $2.4 million project to expand the wastewater treatment plant, and $4.4 million to reconstruct Lakeshore Drive and Algonquin Drive.
A significant amount of funding will go towards road resurfacing projects including almost $688,000 towards Sykes Street and over $200,000 towards replacing and rehabilitating local bridges and culverts.
The budget also aims to spend $390,000 for work at Meaford Hall and $200,000 for an accessible bus.
Council will be returning on Feb. 12 for a public meeting on the budget.
