South Bruce OPP have shared more about the issues caused by this past weekend’s winter storm— which is still dumping snow on Grey Bruce.
In once instance, OPP say a driver collided with a closed road barricade, which police say illustrates how bad visibility was at times during the storm.
They say in addition to the nine people they charged for driving on a closed road, over the weekend they responded to ten collisions.
They say there were no life-threatening injuries at any of the scenes.
South Bruce OPP say they also responded to trees and branches on the road, downed hydro lines, vehicles in the ditch, vehicles abandoned on or near the highway along with numerous other calls for service.
Meanwhile on Monday, while efforts to re-open Highway 21 were underway, officers stopped and charged three more drivers for being on a closed road.
OPP note, that carries a roadside fine of $110 and three demerit points, but they caution, the consequences could be much worse if you become stranded in a whiteout.
