Hanover Police are crediting residents with their surveillance cameras registered to the CAMSafe Program with helping them identify a theft suspect.
Police Chief Chris Knoll says on social media, officers arrested a 46-year-old Saugeen Shores man after they investigated an early morning ‘smash and grab’ theft from a vehicle.
Knoll says a search warrant was executed earlier this week in Hanover, and police recovered the stolen electronics equipment taken from the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested and charged with theft, mischief, and breach of probation. Police say he was later released with conditions and a court date in Walkerton.
Chief Knoll says, “Excellent police work by our investigators…” adding, “This is a great example of a case solved with the help of a business owner and citizen who took the time to register their surveillance cameras on http://camsafe.ca.”
