Thursday afternoon is the deadline for letters of interest to be a councillor in South Bruce Peninsula.
As of Thursday, January 4th at 6 a.m., 12 people have put their names forward. They are:
Dan Lisk, Paul Deacon, Bill Klingenberg, Glenn Holst, Christine Thomas, Mary Hanlon, Ann Marie Hadcock, James Turner and John Elmer, Tony Keeshig, Ana Vukovic and Pamela Linklater.
Council has decided to appoint a new council to fill the seat left vacant after councillor Caleb Hull was appointed deputy mayor to fill Jay Kirkland’s seat who had been deputy mayor until he was appointed mayor following the resignation of Garry Michi.
The deadline to apply is January 4th at 2 p.m. in person at the municipal office on Berford Street in Wiarton.
The Town’s website says, “interested eligible electors who will be considered by council to fill the vacancy will be given the opportunity to speak to council briefly in an open council meeting prior to council filling the vacancy.”
