The annual Stuff the Ambulance holiday drive exceeded expectations.
Food and monetary donations rolled in at the United Way of Bruce Grey event at Walmart in Owen Sound, held in early December.
Fundraising Champion Kristy Andre says: “We were handing out these really cool shopping lists for people to take them into Walmart and see what’s needed.”
Andre says 513 pounds of food was donated to the Owen Sound Salvation Army to support their efforts in handing out emergency food hampers.
Additionally, the event received half a skid of in-kind donations, which will go to individuals and families in need through the United Way’s SOS Program.
“We were collecting tents, tarps, personal hygiene products, things that people need to feel like they are looked after,” says Andre.
The event was also able to raise $1,375 to support the United Way and OSHaRE.
“I think events like this is great just to say that we are here. We are out here doing the best we can and we are also here just to show the people who are accessing our program that we are advocating for them and we are collecting as much as we can,” says Andre.
