The Orillia Detachment of the OPP is out in full force for the annual Christmas RIDE campaign.
RIDE, which stands for Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere, is focused on nabbing impaired drivers over the holiday season.
Orillia officers saw a driver attempt to bypass a RIDE stop by cutting through a parking lot in Washago, which led to police pulling the driver over. It was determined that he was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content over the legal limit.
The 24-year-old is charged with operation while impaired and has a court date set for January. He’s also lost his licence for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
