OSHaRE is ready to serve holiday meals to hundreds of people.
Executive Director Colleen Trask-Seaman says, “We are serving our OSHaRE Christmas on December 23rd so that’s Saturday from 12 to 1:30 and that is a full-course roast beef dinner and we also give out toiletry bags and little gifts to our guests.”
She adds, “We’re open on Christmas Day and we’re serving with our partners from the Salvation Army and that’s from 12-1:30 and that’s a full course turkey dinner.”
Trask-Seaman notes the kitchen is still doing a take-out style operation, meaning there is no indoor dining. “We are doing renovations to go back to indoor dining but they won’t be done by Christmas so we will be doing it as a takeout meal.”
She says, “We have seen an increased demand here at OSHaRE. Last year we served 123,623 meals in the year and we passed 130,000 in November of this year. So the need continues to grow and we’re expecting that, this Christmas season.”
Trask-Seaman says they’ll also be serving Christmas dinner leftovers on the 26th and 27th.
The only day they’re closed in Sunday, which is their regular schedule. “Otherwise we’re open the whole Christmas season,” says Trask-Seaman.
She adds, “We’re super thankful for our community. We couldn’t do this without them. It’s because of our volunteers and our donors that we’re able to serve these two wonderful meals to our guests here at OSHaRE.”
