The cost to visit the Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol will be going up by an average of 25%.
During this week’s county council meeting, the proposed increases were presented to council.
In a report presented by Director Beth Rumble, it was determined that the current admission rates were comparatively lower to museums and historical sites in other municipalities.
With the current rates, to visit both sites, families pay $30, while individual adults have to pay $10. With the proposed increases, families will soon be paying $40, while individuals would pay $12.50 to visit both the museum and gaol.
Meanwhile, to currently access the museum archive reading room, it costs members $5 and non-members $6. With the proposed increase, it would cost members $9 and non-members $10.
Youth programming rates would remain unchanged for 2024.
The approved increases would provide approximately $14,000 in additional revenue for the county.
