Saugeen Shores Police say a 29 year old Bruce County man who has been arrested in connection to several break and enter incidents has been arrested again, and released.
Police say the suspect has been arrested numerous times, including twice in September of 2022, twice in March of 2023, then in June and July, twice in August and in November.
An update from police says the original incident the man is accused in connection to, took place in late September 2022 when police investigated two commercial break-ins. One was at a restaurant on Goderich Street in Port Elgin where a drive-thru window was smashed and three cash registers were stolen. Police also said a dentist office was broken into where supplies and instruments were stolen.
Police say the suspect was identified through CCTV footage and arrested. They add, the man was identified as a suspect in a boat break-in in Southampton earlier that month.
They say he had also been arrested two days before (Sep 28th 2022) as the suspect in a case involving the theft of a taxi from Port Elgin.
Police say on March 10th, 2023 he was released by the courts with an order that he reside in Owen Sound and be in his residence at all times.
They say on March 13th, the man was arrested by Owen Sound police for failing to comply with the release order and was remanded back into custody.
According to police, the man was found guilty on June 23rd of a number of charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 among other charges. Police say several charges were withdrawn during the court process. They say he was given 210 days pre-sentence custody and a year of probation.
Police say they arrested him again on July 8th and charged him with possession of property obtained by crime.
On August 9th, police say the man was arrested in connection to a vehicle break and enter in progress.
On August 31st, police say the same man was arrested for failing to comply with a release order in connection to a suspicious person report.
In their latest update, police say the accused was released on the 16th of November and arrested on the 19th at a residence on Bruce Road 13 and charged with several offences including break and enter. Police say, “He was held in custody for a bail hearing where he was once again released with no new conditions.”
