Huron County officials are looking to hear from immigrants to the region.
The county has opened an immigration survey, asking the area’s newcomers area about their experiences living, working, and studying in the region.
Manager of Huron County’s Local Immigration Partnership, Mark Nonkes, says the survey is open to all newcomers, regardless of how long they have resided along Ontario’s West Coast.
“If they’re new to Canada, or even if they’ve been here for 10 years, we want to know what it was like to move here,” Nonkes tells Country 104.9 News.
“It’s really seeking peoples’ experiences and information about settling in our communities.”
Nonkes says the information will be used to make the region more appealing for newcomers looking to call rural Ontario home.
“The immigration partnership has about 25 organizations at the table that meet regularly to discuss ways that we can improve the experience for immigrants in our communities,” Nonkes says.
“This information will shape the pathway forward.”
Individuals who complete the survey can enter a draw for one of 13 prizes that include a $200 prepaid credit card, $100 prepaid credit cards and $10 Tim Horton’s gift cards.
The survey will be available to newcomers until November 24.
