Update:
Saugeen Shores Police and Grey Bruce OPP confirm the bones found at the Southampton leaf and yard waste site are indeed human.
The two police services issued separate news releases Thursday evening saying an anthropologist determined the remains are historic in nature, and will not be part of a criminal investigation.
Police haven’t provided any explanation about how the remains may have ended up at the Southampton yard waste site.

Saugeen Shores Police and Grey Bruce OPP are working together on a joint investigation following the discovery of bones.
Saugeen Shores police say earlier today, a citizen contacted them after discovering bones at the Southampton leaf and yard waste compost site located on Concession 14 in Saugeen Shores.
Police say you’ll see an increased police presence in the area and also on Bruce Road 13 in the area of Sauble Beach while police conduct their investigation.
They’re asking people to avoid the areas.
Saugeen Shores Police say in release, an anthropologist will attend the scene to determine the age of the bones and origin.
They say there is no concern for public safety.
Police note, they are in the early stages of the investigation. They say more information will be released as it becomes available.
