A thanksgiving food drive, held by the Silver Cs in Owen Sound was a big success.
Organizer Dave Barber says the drive, which was held at Food Basics, Zehr’s and Metro raised 7,103 lbs of food and $7,100 in monetary donations for the Salvation Army food bank.
Barber says families in the community are struggling, and find it difficult to put food on the table, adding, they’re facing pressure from increased mortgage costs, rent costs, utility bills, and the price of food.
Barber says, “People in our community and surrounding area who were able, gave generously at our food drives,” and adds the Silver Cs are thanking the community for its support.
The Silver Cs are a group of retired men who meet every Tuesday morning at the legion in Owen Sound, in the club room from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Barber says, “Looking to meet new friends, have great fellowship, listen to informative speakers, etc., drop by any Tuesday morning, check us out. You’ll be glad you did.”
