A cryptocurrency scam has resulted in a six-figure loss for a Huron East resident.
Huron OPP say the resident lost $100 thousand in an internet investment scam between July and September 2023.
Police say an initial “investment” of $500 was made, before more money was sent.
According to officers, the fraudsters eventually “froze” the investment and ceased all communication with the victim.
In 2022, according to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), fraud reports totalled a staggering $530 million in victim losses.
