Grey Bruce OPP and Owen Sound Police are continuing to ask for tips that could help with their investigation into the death of Sharif Rahman.
Grey Bruce OPP say, “Your tip could make a difference.”
44-year-old Rahman was the owner of The Curry House restaurant. He died following an assault outside his business in the 900-block of 2nd Avenue East in Owen Sound on August 17th.
Police are thanking the community for the many tips received, as they continue to work through what they describe as a complex case.
They say, “Both police services have made this investigation a priority and continue to dedicate significant investigative resources to the task of reviewing the information submitted by the members of the public.”
Police add, “We understand that this crime has had a significant impact on our small community and that residents continue to have concerns and questions about this tragedy. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our investigative work continues.”
They say OPP and Owen Sound Police continue to investigate all tips received from the public and encourage anyone with information to contact the investigative team at Owen Sound police.
Anyone in the area who may have video footage available from 8:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on August 17th, or who may have been driving in the downtown area with an active dash camera in their vehicle is also encouraged to contact police.
A previous message from police back in August said, officers were aware that citizens and vehicles were in the area at that time.
Specifically, police said people were at the intersections of 2nd Avenue East at 10th Street East (the intersection by the 10th street bridge, Curry House, Channing’s, The Pub and CIBC).
Police also said back in August, they know people were around in the area of the next intersection, 2nd Avenue East at 9th Street East (which has Pizza Pizza, TD Bank and Royal Bank, and the nearby Tim Hortons).
The suspects ran towards the intersection at 9th Street East (by Pizza Pizza) then ran eastbound on 9th, (in the direction of the Roxy Theatre).
Police have posted pictures of two of the three suspects running from the scene. A third male suspect is described as being Caucasian with curly hair, wearing shorts and a t-shirt and being in his late forties to mid-fifties in age.
They have also posted a picture of the suspect vehicle which they initially described as similar to a grey or blue 2000’s model Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute.
Today, OPP say the investigation continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and involves members of the Owen Sound police, their crime unit and forensic identification service, the OPP West Region crime unit, its forensic service, the OPP Regional Support Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
