Food and music will take over the United Way of Perth-Huron’s 2022-23 campaign kick-off in Goderich.
Manager of Community Development for Goderich and Area, Michelle Millar, says Saturday’s campaign kick-off will feature music from local artists “Homers,” “The Blacklist Social,” and “The Full Nelsons.”
50/50 draws, silent auctions, and food trucks will also be apart of the event.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Millar says the United Way of Perth-Huron has seen a rise in homelessness.
“You can have people that are a two family income working good jobs, renting a home, and lose the home,” Millar tells Country 104.9 News.
“They lose the home because the landlord wants to renovate or do something different with it, then suddenly, where do they go?”
Millar says money raised by the Perth-Huron branch of the United Way stays in the county in which it was raised, and supports local organizations.
“The Women’s Shelter, Safe Homes for Youth, the [Huron County] Food Bank Distribution Centre,” are organizations Millar says continue to receive monetary support from the United Way.
The Goderich campaign kickoff for the United Way of Perth-Huron runs Saturday, September 23rd beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena.
The event is licenced for age of majority.
