Over 400 Huron County kids started school with the proper supplies this year, thanks to a program with the Salvation Army.
Throughout August, the Salvation Army of Goderich, Clinton, and Seaforth collected donations of backpacks and school supplies for kids in need heading back to school.
Community and Family Services Supervisor Kendall Strome says 420 backpacks were handed out this year.
“That includes Zurich, Seaforth, Exeter, Clinton, Goderich, and Wingham,” Strome tells Country 104.9 News.
“We do school supplies inside… we also lunch pales, water bottles, and then the regular pens, paper, pencil case, ruler, eraser.”
Strome tells us the 420 children who received backpacks this year exceeds last year’s figures, which were just shy of 400.
