Youth Haven in Barrie is planning to tear down its exisiting building, and build a brand new facility.
The non-profit agency and the Simcoe County Home Builders Association have been looking at options and feel replacing the current Wellington Street building is the best way forward.
It’s hoped they can begin work next spring, and in the meantime a $ 2 million fundraising campaign is underway.
So far about $300,000 has been raised.
There are over 600 young people in Simcoe County that rely on Youth Haven for support every year for emergency shelter, transitional housing and outreach services.
