Port Elgin 9 Meaford 5
Wednesday night, in Grey Bruce Ladies Fastball league action, the Port Elgin Devils upset the league champions, Meaford Leeky Canoe by a score of 9-5. Madison Parrish pitched a complete, while Kaitlyn Gibson and Sinead Miller split the duties for Port Elgin.
The Devils were up 9-1 going into the last inning, and Meaford mounted a strong comeback and left the bases loaded with the tying run at the plate while Gibson reached back and stuck the last batter out to end the game.
Brandi Woods and Ella Fraser both went 3 for 3 for Meaford.
Laurel Hopkins had a bases loaded triple for Port Elgin and Jamie Novachowich was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored to lead the Devils, who now go on to face Desboro in the League semi-finals Thursday night in Allenford.
Allenford Gators 9 Desboro Royals 5
Team Tedford Allenford Gators win in the undefeated game vs Desboro Royals 9-5.
Keri Emke pitched for the Gators and had 12 strike outs. Stacey Hammell had a triple for Team Tedford.
For Royals Kolby Krueger & Maddy Moore pitched with a combined 11 strike outs.
Kaitlyn Rooney had a triple for royals.
Allenford Gators advance to the finals next Thursday, September 7th starting at 7 p.m. in Allenford.
