The same day the Women’s World Cup Final was played on the other side of the planet, the Owen Sound Women’s United hosted Walkerton Legend Landscaping in the Finals of the Lakeshore Soccer League (LSL).
LSL Women’s is a six team Division who each play ten regular season games then face Playoff Elimination games.
Although there were several chances at both ends in this Final Match Up, the first half ended in a scoreless tie.
Arenn Osadzuk put Owen Sound ahead in the second half with a well placed shot off the inside of the bar.
Ari Alexander increased Owen Sound’s lead to 2-0, scoring in heavy traffic off a highlight reel cross from Natalie Brick.
Walkerton brought it back to a one goal game pressing high. Gabby Hopkins had to deal with a couple of defenders before finding the back of the net with a well placed kick.
In the end, Owen Sound was able to hold on to secure the win.
