This year’s Wounded Warriors Canada’s (WWC) Ride for Mental Health in Meaford blew past its fundraising goal.
TC Energy Communications Lead Sara Beasley says the event on Aug. 19 at the Meaford Rotary Harbour Pavilion welcomed about 30 riders, including first responders and volunteers.
She says the event, which MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Rick Byers was in attendance, went really well, exceeding the original $5,000 goal.

“We raised just over $9,000, and then TC Energy will be matching that donation, in total it will be over $18,000,” says Beasley.
The funds will go to WWC, which is a nationally-recognized organization and mental health services provider aimed at serving trauma exposed professionals and their families.
She says riders took part in an either 25 or 50 kilometre route after hearing speeches from those who had experienced mental health.
“This ride in particular recognizes the importance of mental health awareness which is a topic and subject that we don’t believe always gets the focus it deserves, so this event recognizes the importance of that and recognizes the mental health surrounding our first responders and Canadian Armed Forces members,” says Beasley.
