Northern Bruce Peninsula is receiving a proposal to renew the Tobermory Community Centre basketball court today.
The proposal from Flex Court Canada for the installation of the 24’x90′ modular court package is being recommended by Parks and Facilities Manager Mark Coleman.
Coleman’s report says as part of the 2023 budget process, the Tobermory Community Centre basketball court was identified as a facility needing improvement.
The current court is a paved asphalt area about 25’x100′ in size with a perimeter chain link fence and a single basketball hoop. The court also has no lines and some minor accumulation of water occurs when it rains.
Flex Court responded to the need with its all weather game surfaces, which are developed for residential and commercial tennis, roller and ball hockey, basketball, and multi game courts.
Staff recommend council accept the proposal for just over $16,000, which falls within the $20,000 budgeted for the project.
Council will be considering this item during its meeting on Aug. 14 at 1 p.m.
