Bruce County’s Housing Corporation is continuing to plan the repair work at one of its apartment buildings.
A report was presented to council as an update on the restoration work at Glenwood Apartments, at 308 John Street in Walkerton, after a fire in December 2022.
Staff are hoping that the project will receive final approval once all studies have been conducted by consultants and engineers, which will then need to be approved by the insurance provider.
There is also a tenant re-occupancy plan in place.
Based on a report from the County’s Human Service department, 17 tenants had to be relocated following the fire to other units within the Bruce County Housing Corporation’s portfolio.
Meanwhile, in their most recent report, Human Services says that because of the relocations from the fire, increased delay in how quickly they were able to find housing for people on the county’s waitlist.
