Grey County Council is committing $1-million over five years in support of the new Mental Health & Wellness Treatment Centre in Owen Sound.
During this week’s meeting, the council directed staff to provide the first installment payment this year.
The decision will be formalized during Grey County’s next meeting on August 10th.
Work is ongoing at the former Bayview School in Owen Sound to convert it into the new Grey Bruce Health Services facility.
The treatment centre will provide services for people recovering from addiction.
It’s expected to cost $25 million to build, with GBHS and the province committing $10 million. The community fundraising target is set at $15 million.
