It’s Goods Exchange Day in Owen Sound on Saturday.
It’s an opportunity for residents to clear out gently used household items by placing them at the curb, for treasure hunters to pick up and take home.
The City holds three such days each year.
The City says residents should tie a white plastic bag to one of the items at the curb or place a sign that says “FREE” on the items.
According to the City, participating in Goods Exchange Day diverts usable items from the landfill and is also a great way to offer your unwanted items to others without the having to host a garage sale.
You may find things like sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art, tools, toys, doors, sinks and windows.
It’s a good idea to move bikes, toys, and gardening tools that you want to keep, away from the curb to prevent misunderstandings.
The City says anything that does not find a new home should be taken back inside by 6 p.m. the same day.
Don’t forget, this Saturday, July 22 is Goods Exchange Day! To ensure that items at the curb are intended as Goods Exchange Day items, please tie a white plastic bag to one of the items or attach a sign that says “FREE”. pic.twitter.com/21LAQz2B5x
