Grey County has approved the purchase of land for the installation of a roundabout in the Town of the Blue Mountains.
A staff report says the County needs to acquire the property at the intersection of Grey Road 19 and Crosswinds Boulevard to accommodate the construction of the proposed roundabout which is scheduled to start in 2025.
Back on on June 22nd, County Committee of the Whole recommended that staff continue to negotiate a purchase of the land and if negotiation didn’t work, to go ahead with expropriation proceedings.
Staff say an agreement of purchase and sale was finalized with the landowner on June 27th.
Council formally approved it on July 13th.
The County says Grey Road 19 is the main access route between Collingwood and Blue Mountain Resort.
The area is seeing a significant increase in traffic and rapid residential development as well as tourism. It’s only expected to get busier.
