The Owen Sound Little Theatre (OSLT) is unveiling its next lineup of performances for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Executive Director of the OSLT Marcia Cunningham says they are excited for the upcoming season coming to The Roxy.
“OSLT is bringing back the popular One-Act plays, allowing new and returning directors and actors to gain experience on a smaller scale. Our playbill features three productions encompassing classic drama, poignant comedy, and a lively musical. The Roxy Presents Series offers a diverse mix of comedy, circus acts, film screenings, and music performances by original artists and inspired tributes. Moreover, our Roxy Young Company is one again offering camps, classes, and a fantastic musical production. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the return of Roxy Star Company, a program catering to adults with complex needs,” says Marcia.
The Bite-Sized Theatre: One Act Plays, a series of short plays, include Finger Food, directed Sheilah Spurr. It explores the sparks flying between a method hand model and a hand-obsessed food photographer during an ad shoot. The one act plays will be running Sept. 14-16 at 7:30 p.m.
The Roxy will later feature One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Directed by Corry Lapointe, this stage adaptation of Ken Kesey’s novel explores the oppressive world of a mental institution and challenging authority. The play will run from Nov. 9-11 and 15-18 at 7:30 p.m., and on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
Into the new year, The Roxy will be showing The Ladies Foursome. Directed by Bill Murphy, the play bring together four women for a round of golf while having humorous and heartfelt conversations. It will run Feb. 8-10 and 14-17 at 7:30 and on Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
The Roxy will then show Something Rotten directed by Kathleen Cassidy. This musical comedy is set in the Renaissance era and follows two brothers aiming to outshine Shakespeare and invent the world’s first musical. The musical will run April 11-13, 18-20, and 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 14 at 2 p.m.
The Roxy Presents Series also has a lineup of a variety of events, including:

-Standup comedy showcase with Laurie Elliott and Arthur Simeon on Oct. 21
-“Slocan Ramblers” on Dec. 1
-“Choir! Choir! Choir!” on Dec. 3
-“Maggie’s Wake: Spirit of the Season” on Dec. 9
-“The Mudmen” on Jan 19
-“Acrobat: U2 Tribute” on Feb. 23
-“Owen Sound Reel Festival with the TOM” on March 2
-“Shipyard Kitchen: Tom Thomson’s Wake” on May 3
-“Classics Albums Live – Led Zeppelin II” on May 4
The Roxy Young Company is also starting the season with two sold-out summer camps and is planning a showing of Winnie The Pooh on July 14 and 28.
The Roxy Star Company, a theatre program for adults living with complex needs, including intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities, is entering is second season. More updates and information will be provided at a later date.
