The Paisley Library is moving to a different location.
Arran-Elderslie Council has awarded the renovation contract for the new library space in the community centre to Domm Construction Limited.
Council approved a staff recommendation at its July 10th meeting for the work on the second floor of the community centre.
A report from staff says the Township has allocated $346,203 for the renovation work which will include new flooring, lighting, and a new accessible vestibule between the library and community hall. Work also includes adding a circulation desk area, upgrades to the washrooms to meet accessibility requirements. Among other changes, new windows will be installed as well as some new duct work.
Staff say, the proposal received from Domm Construction Ltd. included allowances for cabinetry, counter tops and a circulation desk.
Domm Construction Ltd., has also been awarded the contract for the installation of an elevator. Arran-Elderslie staff have successfully applied for a grant to install the elevator and funding for the library relocation has been accounted for in the budget.
Staff say work is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2023 and be completed in early 2024.
The current 900 square foot library building across the street from the community centre was constructed in 1967 and is owned by the municipality. It doesn’t meet accessibility requirements for the entrance and washroom.
