The North Dufferin Baseball League all-stars will take to the diamond this weekend in Owen Sound at the 57th senior and 28th junior division baseball games.
The senior contest featuring the East division versus the West division kicks off at 1 p.m. followed by the junior squads, team Ballistics and Dirt Devils, playing at 4 p.m.
Players selected for the East include, Ken Chapman, Aaron McLeod, Brandon Tippin from Barrie Angels, Joshua Catalanotto, Logan Hart from Bolton Brewers, Matt Barr, Ryan Barr, Anthony Quintana from Ivy Rangers, Tyson Hansen, Cale McLean, Matt Rumney from Midland Mariners, Brett Beardsall, Pierson French, Nolan Nicholson from Orillia Majors, and Ryan Bartley, Kirk Gibson, Nate Kramer, Bryan Post, Trevor Smith, Wayland Wilson from Owen Sound Baysox. The team will be managed by Al Cooke from Owen Sound.
Meanwhile, the West features Noah Calvert-Goetz, Travis Fulford, Travis Saunders from Clarksburg Blues, Steve Barrett, Ethan Kennedy-Munsterman, Donovan Winch from Clearview Orioles, Jeff Akitt, Anson Dupuis, Tom Gateman, Eric Orser from Creemore Padres, Mike Derech, Brad Petch, Liam Reynolds from Lisle Astros, Steve Bourget, Tyler Greer, Lucas Sweet from Mansfield Cubs, and Sid Beelen, Chris Greer, Nick Hodgson, Kurt Roy from New Lowell Knights. The junior contest features all seven teams divided amongst two teams, pitting teammate against teammate.

The Owen Sound U19 Creative Playgrounds Women’s Field Lacrosse Team faced the Kitchener Kodiaks in JEWL division play on Thursday night in Acton.
At halftime the North Stars led by a score of 6-4 and managed to extend their lead to beat the Kodiaks by a final score of 12-8. The win improved Owen Sounds record to 7-2 on the season. Gillian Warren had a solid performance between the pipes making key saves in the final quarter. Brooklyn Doyle set up several goals and was selected as the teams offensive player of the game while Kaitlyn Strong had an outstanding defensive performance earning defensive player of the game.
Scoring for Owen Sound was Jill Goldie with 6 goals, Karly Low netted a pair while Courtney Scott Cassidy Low, Eden Beyer, and Laine Nissen each netted one.
The Owen Sound U19 Creative Playgrounds Women’s Field Lacrosse Team travel to the Hill Academy Friday night to finish regular season play against the Oakville Lady hawks at 7:00 p.m.

Despite wet and stormy weather conditions resulting in a brief suspension of play, the third round of the 101st Ontario Junior (U19) Boys Championship at The Club at Bond Head was nothing short of competitive.
With a lot of the competition trying to catch him, Matthew Javier (Scarboro Golf & Country Club) continues to hold first place at 12-under par. Javier shot 73 in round three and will take a five-stroke lead into the final round. Behind him are Isaiah Ellis (Lookout Point Country Club), Ben Sheridan (Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club) and Luke Smith (The Thornhill Club), who are all tied for second place at seven-under-par. Ellis moved up two spots on the leaderboard today after shooting 70 in the third round. Sheridan moved up three spots after shooting 69, which included an eagle on the 16th hole. Smith shot a 71 in round three.
With the fourth and final round on the horizon, many players will be eager to finish this tournament strong and catch up to the leaders. Race Information:
As per Triathlon Ontario, participants will be placed in the age category as per their age on December 31, 2023.
This event is fully sanctioned and insured by Triathlon Ontario.
All swims are in the Owen Sound YMCA pool. Life jackets are offered and available to all athletes.
All runs are on a fast flat 1km loop or shorter.
Helmets are mandatory! No exceptions!
Age group wave starts, youngest to oldest.
First wave at 8:30 a.m.
This event is NOT timed. Our focus is on fun and participation.
All participants receive a finishers medal, event T shirt, race kit, and post-race snack.
Bikes and helmets are to be in proper working order (parent’s responsibility)
Most of the bike course is on paved road within the YMCA parking lot. Some of it is on gravel. The entire bike course for all ages is closed off from traffic.

If your child is in the 3-5 age group, and you are picking up their race kit Saturday morning, please arrive between 7 and 7:30am or they may miss their start time.

Course tours are highly recommended for all participants to familiarize yourselves with the course, distances and venue. Although our course has many volunteers to direct athletes, we highly recommend that you come for a tour on Friday, as there will be no course tours on our event day. Course tours are your chance to ask all of your questions and understand what to expect event day.
COURSE TOURS WILL BE OFFERED AUG 25 AT: 4:30pm, 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm by the Race Director. The entire parking lot of the YMCA will be open at the Centre on Friday August 25.
***Registration will close at 6pm on Wed August 23. It is at that time we’ll see how many participants we have. We then begin to schedule youngest to the oldest in waves with a maximum of 12 participants, with time in between each wave to keep things organized and course re sets for different ages. We cannot give you start times until you come to kit pick August 25. Please do not email in advance asking for start times. Thank you. ***

Parking for participants will be announced closer to the event. Please follow the signage.
Some of the parking lot race day will be used for patrons of the YMCA and some of the parking lot will be an active bike course. To ensure safety please obey all signage, barricades and volunteer instructions.
