West Grey is going to consider sponsoring Garafraxa Non-Profit Homes Inc. (GNPH) in a grant application for a playground project.
Council will be receiving a report from Treasurer and Director of Finance Kerri Mighton today recommending supporting GNPH is applying for funding for the project on the rear of their property at 320 Garafraxa Street North in Durham.
The report says GNPH has been working with the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority on the design and layout of a playground space, and have applied for funding from the Community Foundation Grey Bruce as well as other sources.
To be eligible for the community foundation grant, however, the GNPH must be sponsored by the municipality who will act as the qualified donee. The GNPH would act as the agent for the qualified donee for the purpose of establishing, maintaining and completing the project.
“The role of the qualified donee is to receive the grant funds; provide the grant funds to the agent to carry out the project; receive the report from the agent; and inspect the project as deemed appropriate,” says the report.
The grant money, if approved, would be given to the municipality, which would then go to the GNPH, and construction would start in the spring of 2024.
Council will be considering this item at its meeting on July 4 at 9 a.m.
