The United Way Bruce Grey was able to update Kincardine Council on all of the community initiatives they’ve been doing.
The organization, which covers all of Bruce and Grey Counties, has been keeping busy helping local residents with their financial literacy program.
Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says that “We work with people who are struggling with poverty. You can’t budget your way out of poverty, so it’s not just like a ‘hey, let’s just teach you how to budget to live on $700’,” she told the council. “It’s a ‘you know, let’s make some priorities’ kind of thing.”
She also says that they’ve been helping local families through their utility assistance program.
“Our utility assistance program is the most significant financial investment that we make in our community.”
The United Way of Bruce Grey also supports community initiatives such as Safe Communities Bruce Peninsula, their Backpack Program, and EMS Kettle Bins.
The United Way is 100% funded by donations.
