Bruce Power is offering narrated bus tours through its facility this summer.
Bruce Power says after welcoming more than 10,000 people to its Visitors’ Centre last year, the Summer Bus Tour Program is making its return to show people around its 2,300-acre site.
The tours will be held Monday to Friday in June, July and August with one tour a day in June, and three in July and August.
The tours begin at the Visitors’ Centre, where participants can watch a short film and interact with displays on the nuclear electricity process, the production of cancer-fighting medial isotopes, the major component replacement projects, and its history.
Bruce Power adds after a security check, people will continue to learn about clean and reliable nuclear energy by taking the bus for a one-hour tour.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended by visiting the Bruce Power website here. Walk-in spaces are few and available daily on a first-come basis.
Bruce Power is also planning on holding a community appreciation event in downtown Port Elgin on July 29, which will be capped by fireworks at dusk over the main beach. The Bruce Power FunFest will be held both indoors and outdoors at the Port Elgin Missionary Church and will feature dog and reptile shows, children’s entertainment, and face painting, along with free food and more.
