West Grey council is going to consider entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the West Grey-Durham Lions Club for an off-leash dog park project.
Council will be receiving a report during its meeting on June 6 from Director of Finance and Treasurer Kerri Mighton, recommending entering into the MOU.
This follows when council was previously approached in early February with a proposal from the club to install the park.
The report says the club has approached the municipality to see if it would be willing to receive charitable donations for the purpose of the future dog park, as well as work with the club as a project lead.
The preferred location of the park is on the south side of Saddler Street West and next to Station Street, which is the current site of the community gardens.
Staff have been in consultation with both groups, and the gardens will be relocated after the fall harvest is completed.
The report says the club will be fully funding the dog park project as well as with any donations received.
Council will be considering this report during its meeting on June 6 at 9 a.m.
