It was a warm night at Lakeshore Diamond and a tight battle between the Tara Ladies and Port Elgin Diamond Devils.
Tara jumped out to an early lead with an RBI from Sarah Pickford. They would add a few more late with an RBI from Cyndie Rands.
LeeAnne Cochrane and Lexy Mahon would split time in the circle Port Elgin would load the bases late, but Tara held on.
For Port Elgin Corrine Doonan and Mel Harris went 2 for 3.
Sinead Miller and Kaitlyn Gibson spilt time in the circle for the Devils
Meaford 12 Bears 1
A hot night in Meaford for the Leeky Canoe Ladies home opener against the Bad News Bears.
Jaclyn Fraser was on the mound for Meaford, striking out 7 through 5 innings. Tanya Neil and Jen Bumstead were both 3 for 3 at the plate for the Leeky.
Keshia Jacques pitched for the Bears and Sarah Mason scored the Bears lone run.
Tara Twins 14 Chippewa Hill 3
The U17 Tara Twins beat the Chippewa Hill Xtereme, in the Xtreme Home Opener.
All Grey Bruce Ladies league teams will see action on Sunday afternoon in the Ashley Clock Memorial Showcase in Desboro.
