A walk to raise money and awareness for those living with Chron’s and Colitis is set to go in Grey Bruce this coming weekend.
The Gutsy Walk on June 4th is the single largest fundraiser for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
It supports research into a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis that impact 300,000 Canadians and their families.
Since its start in 1996, Gutsy Walk has become the largest single fundraiser for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada having raised more than $48 million for support programs and innovative research. It is aiming to add $3 million to that total this year. More
than 3,500 Canadians participated in last year’s walk.
Local Gutsy Walk Chair Kendra Moore says, “Gutsy Walk brings people across the country together to find a cure and improve the lives of Canadians with Crohn’s and colitis,” adding, “It also boosts the morale of everybody affected by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. It reminds us all that we are not on this journey on our own.”
The Grey Bruce Community Gutsy Walk will take place at Walkerton District Community School, 1320 Yonge St S, Walkerton, Ontario, on Sunday, June 4th with registration at 10 am.
Participants can create a team or walk individually or with family and friends. It is a non-competitive day to walk. Organizers say people typically walk 5 km, but any amount is appreciated.
A release says, the annual walk for by Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is the country’s largest fundraiser for research into these diseases.
Since 1996, the Gutsy Walk has raised more than $50 million for research and programs.
