Some new funding will allow Dufferin County’s Digital Service Squad to continue to help small businesses adapt to life online.
The Town of Orangeville announced the grant through the Digital Main Street program.
It’ll go towards a one-year Digital Service Squad program that provides small business owners with the tools and support needed to digitally transform their businesses.
Katrina Lemire, Manager, Economic Development and Culture for the Town says so many local businesses in the county have participated in past Digital Main Street Programs with success.
She says so far to date the program has provided more than $340,000 in grants to over 130 businesses.
A release from the Town says Digital Service Squads (DSS) are the cornerstone of Digital Main Street (DMS) and have trained specialists.
Those specialists meet with brick-and-mortar small businesses, at no cost, to help them complete an online assessment and to introduce them to online training modules designed to build their digital knowledge and skills.
The one-on-one help includes support for basic website setup, Google Business Profiles, 360° photos, social media presence, and much more.
Those members from the squad that will be helping the owners are trained in the development of their Digital Transformation Plan and then with the application process for a $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant.
The deadline for applications is September 30, 2023. For more information contact Christine Hann chann@orangeville.ca or at 519-939-8106.
