West Grey council is directing its staff to create a site plan and budget for the development of two municipally owned properties in Durham and Neustadt.
During a meeting on May 2, council received a report from Director of Infrastructure and Development and Chief Building Official Karl Schipprack.
It recommends in addition to creating a site plan and budget, authorize up to $25,000 to pay for consultants.
The development work will include installing all underground services as well as the required roadways for future developments.
The development of the property in Durham would be for the new West Grey police services building on the southwest corner of Durham Road West and Bruce Street North. While the property is already approved for construction of the new police building, future residential uses may include single detached dwelling units, additional residential units, detached dwellings, row houses, and apartments.
The second property proposed for development is located on the northeast corner of Neustadt with access from John Street. The report says industrial and commercial properties are in high demand and short supply in the surrounding area.
The report says the $25,000 from the economic development reserve to pay for the consultants would be repaid to the reserve from the sale of any lots.
