Hanover Police say they arrested a 24-year-old man after a foot chase.
Police Chief Christopher Knoll says on Twitter last week, officers chased the suspect through backyards in a residential neighbourhood.
Knoll says he was eventually captured after he unknowingly ran off an embankment, falling eight feet into a culvert below. He says the suspect was uninjured & transported to cells.
Officers executed three outstanding Hanover Police Service arrest warrants.
The man faces a total of ten criminal charges, including forcible confinement, two counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of assault, trespass by night, theft under $5,000, and two counts of breach of probation.
Knoll says, “Nice work by patrol officers who were on foot patrol at the time and keeping watch for the suspect in an area he was known to frequent.”
Knoll says further investigation determined the suspect was also involved in recent thefts from vehicles.
Police did not name the man.
The allegations against him have not been proven in court.
