Grey Highlands has been selected for funding through the Ministry of Transportation’s Connecting Links Program.
A release from the municipality says the southeast Grey County community will receive up to $3 million of the overall project costs for reconstructing Toronto Road and Sydenham Street in Flesherton.
Mayor Paul McQueen says in a statement, “”Our area has seen an increase in traffic, and this funding is a significant investment in the future of Grey Highlands.”
The Connecting Links Program provides up to 90% of funding to a maximum of $3 million to municipalities for the repair and reconstruction of connecting link highways, which connect two ends of a provincial highway through a municipal or county road.
Grey Highlands was one of the municipalities selected for funding through the program, which is highly competitive.
A release from the municipality says, “The selection for funding is a testament to the hard work of the municipality and its commitment to improving its infrastructure.”
The total project cost is estimated at $3.7 million, with the remaining costs being funded through the approved 2023 Budget.
McQueen says, “The reconstruction of Toronto Road and Sydenham Street is a significant joint project that will provide long-term benefits to the residents of Flesherton and the surrounding area.”
