The Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team (GB OHT) is looking for people to sit on its Community Council to shape the future direction of the local health system.
The council, created in 2021, is looking for four new members to join the council, also known as the Grey Bruce OHT Patient, Client, Resident, Family and Caregiver Advisory Council and attend its monthly meetings.
In a release, the GB OHT says the volunteer council members bring with them a perspective based their respective ages, gender, background, culture, and own health service experiences, with the OHT being part of a group of organizations, health care providers and community members, who together, work to improve patient outcomes. This could result in easier access to services, more effective communication with providers and better health outcomes.
GB OHT Community Council Co-Chair Barbara Horne says, “we see the role of the Community Advisory Council to advance patient engagement and patient-centre care in all services provided by the Grey Bruce OHT.”
The GB OHT adds their early work will focus on senior’s health and those living with mental health and addictions, but its members do not need to have direct experience in those areas.
“Most important, is to build a team of council members who help bring a diverse point of view and who can help represent the wide range of communities across Grey Bruce,” says GB OHT.
