Water levels in the Black River, Severn River, and Sparrow Lake are expected to continue rising and remain elevated for at least another week, the Town of Gravenhurst is advising the community.
Residents living in these areas should prepare their properties to mitigate the effects of the rising water. This includes sandbagging properties, if needed, and moving items of value, if possible, to higher ground.
Other recommendations include the following:
- Keep drains clear around your property,
- Ensure sump pumps are working and that a battery backup is available,
- Secure outdoor furniture,
- Build a 72-hour emergency kit,
- Do not drive across flooded roadways.
