West Grey Police are notifying the community about a serial sexual assault investigation.
Police say on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, they responded to a call about a sexual assault.
Police say they arrested a 48-year-old James Edward Tomes of West Grey on Feb. 6.
It is alleged he sexually assaulted a youth.
He has been charged with:
-Sexual Assault X3
-Sexual Interference X3
-Sexual Exploitation
Police say, during the course of their investigation, further victims have come forward with additional allegations of sexual assault.
The sexual assaults allegedly took place in the Municipality of West Grey and elsewhere in Grey and Bruce counties.
Police say they are concerned there may be other victims related to the suspect.
Police say Tomes has been remanded into custody awaiting a bail hearing. Allegations against him have not been proven in court.
West Grey police say anyone with information, who may have been sexually assaulted, or believes someone in their care has been sexually assaulted, is asked to contact police.
They note, contacting police is not mandatory, but they encourage survivors to report it to someone, whether it be mental/medical professional, social services, or a trusted person.
