OPP say one person has been taken into custody after an incident in Markdale prompted an increased police presence this morning.
Grey Bruce OPP say they were called to a disturbance in the area of Main Street West at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Provincial Police put out a brief statement on social media around 6 a.m. advising people to avoid Main Street West in the area of Centre Street and Wellington Avenue due to an investigation.
In a release, Grey Bruce OPP say members from the West Region Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit attended the scene.
An area around Main Street West was blocked off while officers investigated. A caller to the Bayshore Broadcasting Newsroom says there were around six or seven OPP cruisers on scene earlier this morning.
The area has since been reopened.
OPP say one individual was taken into custody around 8 a.m.
Police have not released any specifics about the disturbance call, or identified the suspect who was taken into custody.
