The Owen Sound Police is partnering up with the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) for a free data destruction event for personal electronics.
Set for March 25, this free event will be running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound.
The ERA says in a release people can bring their unwanted devices like hard drives, computers, laptops, phones, tablets, tapes, and other small devices storing sensitive data to be securely destroyed or wiped clean for reuse.
Data will be destroyed on-site with the ERA’s shredding machine to prevent data from being recovered.
Devices chosen for reuse are donated to community charities, non-profit organizations, care facilities, and educational institutions.
For more details on how data destruction works, visit the ERA website here.
