Hanover Police say they have charged a man with theft after an employee of the local Esso posted a public appeal on Facebook looking for help in identifying a gas theft suspect.
Hanover police allege the suspect was responsible for two gas drive-off thefts in Hanover and one in Rockford.
The Esso employee posted on social media saying they had the same car leave without paying for gas two weeks in a row.
The employee appealed to the public to help identify the suspect vehicle and driver, posting a picture of the car and claiming the vehicle’s licence plates were covered with cardboard.
Hanover police have since arrested a 29-year-old man from Ancaster and charged him with three counts of theft under $5,000.
