Dufferin residents are being warned about potential risks of floods for the spring.
As warmer weather approaches, it’s important to understand with climate change that rainfall will happen more frequently.
Sara MacRae, Climate and Energy Manager of Dufferin County says that Dufferin County is getting warmer and wetter as the climate changes.
She added that with the change, there’s an increased risk of flooding because of melting snow, ice jams, and heavy rainfall.
There are ways to prepare for flooding like asking your insurance provider about water damage coverage and storing dangerous and hazardous materials properly.
You can also create an emergency family plan including a first aid kit.
