The town of Wasaga Beach is rolling out a water safety campaign, which includes a component outlining the dangers of shelf ice which is common along the Georgian Bay shore.
Fire Chief Craig Williams says town council recently heard from a citizen, who witnessed visitor go through the ice at the beachfront.
The person was rescued thanks to quick action from bystanders.
The town will be working with accommodation operators to promote water safety year-round.
