A 48-year-old man has been charged after allegedly threatening two clerks at the Circle K in downtown Owen Sound, and then taking off with some goods from the convenience store.
Owen Sound Police say the incident at the 10th Street East business happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Police say a man wearing a disguise over his face entered the convenience store and proceeded directly behind the counter, where he confronted two employees and brandished a knife.
City Police allege he then stole some merchandise and fled the store.
Members of the Owen Sound Police Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit were conducting a foot patrol in the area at the time, and were able to intercept the suspect as he fled through a parking lot near 10th Street East.
“Officers arrested the man and recovered what is believed to be all of the stolen store merchandise,” a release from Owen Sound Police says. “Officers searched the area and recovered the knife used to commit the robbery.”
Owen Sound Police say the 48-year-old man of no fixed address faces several charges including armed robbery and assault with a weapon.
